How to Download mp3 from Esnips after “Download Button Removal” in December 2 nd, 2007

Well, the old method of NSDOC will not work anymore as ESnips have changed their Player and the new player follows a bit different approach to play a file. Here is the new way of downloading. Enjoy -

How to Download from Esnips after so much of restrictions.

NEW DOWNLOAD TECHNIQUE FROM MARCH, 2008

We have received lots of comments on not having the “DOWNLOAD” button on esnip folders.
Here is what you need to do to DOWNLOAD songs from ensips now.!
Its easy, so do the example by yourself. You will not feel bad any more.

Use Firefox (we recommend Firefox as our favorite browser)

Install Greasemonkey extension for Firefox.

“Greasemonkey is a Mozilla Firefox extension that allows users to install scripts that make on-the-fly changes to most HTML-based web pages. As Greasemonkey scripts are persistent, the changes made to the web pages are executed every time the page is opened, making them effectively permanent for the user running the script.” (wikipedia)

Install this wildly popular extension from
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748

Thousands of scripts to modify html pages on the fly for added functionality / features are contributed by the community – the largest depository is http://userscripts.org/

Once Greasemonkey is installed (you will see a little monkey at the bottom right corner), one such script that adds a little Download link to esnips is at
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/16714

Note: Clicking on the Monkey icon enables / disables greasemonkey. You don’t always have to keep it enabled.

A script that lets one download youtube videos is

Old Tutorial:

Imagine you want to download -

http://www.esnips.com/doc/a56a0906-0f7f-4e6a-a241-1f3cdfaf7cb1/Kishor–humen-tumse-pyar-kitna

Following are the steps to be followed for any file including the above -

Change doc to nsdoc in the URL.
Remove the song name completely from URL, in above case this would be /Kishor–humen-tumse-pyar-kitna
Replace the Song name with - /ts_id/1205795172796/ns_flash/file88.mp3
Now just copy paste the new URL into the address bar and press enter..Bingo!! you’ll hav the download box firing up on ur screen.

In above case the new URL will be -

http://www.esnips.com/nsdoc/a56a0906-0f7f-4e6a-a241-1f3cdfaf7cb1/ /ts_id/1205795172796/ns_flash/file88.mp3

Only disadvantage of this method is, the file that downloads will not have the actual filename, rather will have file88.mp3 as it’s filename.

Some files are blocked by server. YES. you can not even enable “DOWNLOAD” if you are owner of the account. They did it randomly as far as I can tell. But, if you can play a song, you should be able to download the song using the trick above.

I also noticed that if you just change doc to nsdoc, it will allow you to download, you do not even have to remove the “file extension part”

I ‘ve downloaded so many songs through ‘Firefox’ 4m esnips by using “nsdoc” method till end of Feb’08. but since Mar’08 onwards neither firefox nor explorer is working. even after putting ‘nsdoc’ in URL address and removing title of song if we hit enter again same page gets loaded and only song starts playing automatically. Now how to down load? Some new method is to find out?

Hey Thanks a lot!! It actually works.. Also all those who want to know of any other methods, there is a program called “Orbit” downloader and it is pretty cool.. After installing the program, you can just place the cursor on the flash program and it will pop-up all the files associated with the flash player.. It also works for youtube and other websites that use flash..

?use ‘down them all’ an add-on to mozilla firefox
?in ‘add url’ copy and paste the link used to listen the song
?use the procedure stated by the admin to change the url
And you will find the real file name in the file downloaded

did you try it in Firefox?That worked for me. I tried it in Internet Explorer and it did not work. I switched to Firefox and it worked. I then clicked save to disk to save it to my hard drive instead of it opening in windows media player

I found how to fix your problem James.
I had the same problem.

So first of all go to Tools and then Folderr Options in any Windows Explorer window.
Then click on the File Types tab and choose the file type that you are having problems with.
Now check the box that says “Confirm open after download”
And thats it you might have to hit “Set to default” first.

After changing to “file88.mp3″ it did work and was able to download on my desktop. However, I was not able to click on any icon on the desktop anymore until a reboot. After the reboot, played the file and it worked fine. WORKS!!!!!

Downloaded again a second song to double check if the PC needs to be rebooted everytime. The 2nd time it worked fine without any rebooted needed.
