Calcutta Museum (Indian Museum, Kolkata)- A true treasure of Calcutta
According to the official website, Calcutta Museum is the ninth oldest regular museum in this world and largest in the Asia -Pacific region. The Calcutta Museum was established on 2nd February, 1814 at the Asiatic Society building. The museum was later transferred to the new building in 1978 (year of great flood in Bengal). The museum is extremely rich in it’s content and presently has more than 60 galleries including Art, Archeology, Geology, Zoology, Botany, History, painting and more.
