Nalban Boating Complex in Kolkata (Calcutta) has long been known as “The Lovers Point”. Truly you will always finds numerous young couples boating, chatting walking all over Nalban Boating Complex. The Nalban Boating complex is developed around a large lake not too deep and also used for experimentation in biological studies and fishery science. Nalban is one of the oldest “water sport” complex in Calcutta and situated right beside Nikko Park in Salt Lake. Nalban is also famous as a “picnic spot” and many families visit Nalban to spend their vacation over their far away from busy city traffic, noise, and pollution. However the most famous part of Nalbon is the boating facilities. Many different kinds of boats are available including luxarious and expensive “Shikara” to simple two person paddle boats. Few little islands are present at various locations in the lake along with some beautiful floting huts - they enhance the boating experience. Skikara’s are expensive but great. You usually get a boatman (majhi) to run your Shikara while you chat with friends and family.

I remember visiting Nalban while I was in Calcutta. I used to travel with my friends and had lot of fun. I prefer Nalban better than Nikko Park simply because less noise and less people. To me Nalban is a better place for “Adda” than any other place in Calcutta. Numerous bus service / shuttle cars are available to get to Nalban Boating complex and they are open late in the evening too. Just take your camera or video cam and be a photographer for a day.
