Who We Are

We are CalcuttaGlobalChat.Net and partner sites. We control GaanMela.com which publish interviews of Bands and Singers (Chandrabindu, Shrikanta Acharya, Cactus…), we publish PALKI (Bengali magazine with more than 120 USD offer for creative writing), we review Tollywood films, publish Calcutta information and more. We have more than 6000 unique visitor’s everyday. We are proud of ourselves.

Requirements:

1. Timely submission of article as specified. Usually at least one article per week.
2. Most articles are “informative” and may require trip to the library.
3. Some articles may need photographs (reason we prefer someone from Calcutta) and you must have a digital cam to shoot some easy shots.
4. All articles must have proper references to the sources.
5. None of the articles written for our need can be sold to any other parties.

Article Guideline:

1. Use simple English. Refrain from using complex sentences too much. Avoid difficult words. Your idea is to convey a message, not to show how great your vocabulary is.
2. Whenever writing article about a particular “tourist” spot or so, include their address, phone number, how to visit, entry fee if any and so on.
3. Use paragraphs, bullets and make most useful phrase “bold”.
4. Refer to the photographs if you are using any.

Photography:

1. You don’t have to be a professional photographer. We just need some “random” pictures of Calcutta. Just take your camera with you and keep sending us even some pictures that you may find interesting.
2. Be careful! Sometimes people do not like taking pictures without their permission. If you are shooting people, please, do ask for their permission. Sometimes you may not have a choice. For example, if you are writing an article about “Honesty and Calcutta Traffic Police” and you desperately need a picture, you may have to shoot from distance. That’s ok. For all controversial pictures we will keep the identity of photographer “secret”.
3. Tollywood Posters – This one will be another important task. We will need “ads” of Bengali films as you see in streets in Calcutta. If you keep your digi cam handy, you will find many cool posters.

So, at the end, we are looking for a person who loves to write and take some photographs. We will be paying 5 USD per 500 word articles. No additional money will be paid for the pictures as it is already included in 5 USD offer. If should be fun and with our growth, you will be given more work and more intense involvement.
